Reminder: Post Your OSHA 300A Recordkeeping Summary by Feb. 1
Employers identified by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) should have their 300A summary completed, signed and posted no later than Feb. 1 — and through April 30. OSHA’s recordkeeping standard requires that even employers with no recordable injuries or illnesses must post the summary in the same location as routine employee notices.
Remember, OSHA now requires employers in state plans, including California, to file injury and illness reports electronically, using the federal agency’s Injury Tracking Application (ITA) online portal.
California employers should electronically submit form 300A data covering calendar year 2018 by March 2, 2019. Find more information about reporting requirements from Cal/OSHA.
Record all work-related injuries and illnesses that result in:
- Loss of consciousness
- Days away from work
- Modified work or job transfer
- Medical treatment beyond first aid
- Record injuries on the OSHA 300 log within seven days of occurrence.
- Maintain a separate log and summary for each site.
- Post only the summary, not the log.
- Complete the log and post the summary even when no recordable injuries or illnesses occur.
- Retain the log and summary for five years.
- Only send completed forms to OSHA if specifically asked to do so.
