Position:          Claims Assistant – Utilization Review

Location:          Santa Ana

Responsibilities:

  • Review, process, and coordinate all incoming medical services requests
  • Data entry of pertinent medical information into the Smart UR system
  • Correspond with appropriate parties and update claims system for each request
  • Process and track unauthorized requests
  • Maintain required logs for state reporting and to comply with all audit requirements
  • Work with specialty medical cost containment programs, such as Radnet, ExpressScripts, Integrated HealthCare, and others on an as needed basis
  • Complete ad hoc projects assigned by management, as necessary

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years administrative experience, medical terminology a plus
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Detail oriented, well organized, self-directed
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and complete work within established time frames
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of database management systems

Position:          Human Resources Representative

Location:         San Francisco

This position reports directly to the Human Resources Director, and is exempt status. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for recruitment activity, benefit enrollment and maintenance, payroll coordination, various employee programs
  • Coordination and management of facility activities for both offices to include review of phone plans, home office set ups,
    office set up
  • Central point for review and approval of supplies
  • Keep record of personnel transactions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations
  • Maintain the HR database, personnel files and other confidential departmental files and periodically audit the database
    and files to ensure accuracy
  • Coordination of company-wide events and programs
  • Support the HR department providing information and responding to questions and requests from employees regarding
    all HR-related issues
  • Coordinate payment of invoices with A/P for staffing agencies and benefit vendors
  • Assist in the on-boarding process for new hires
  • Prepare routine and ad hoc reports as needed
  • May perform other related duties as required and/or assigned

 Requirements:

  • 1-3 years experience in the HR field preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Working knowledge of the ADP Payroll system
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Position:          Loss Control Consultant

Location:         Territory to include South Orange County, Imperial Valley and San Diego

The position reports to the Loss Control Manager in Santa Ana.    

Responsibilities:

  • Completing risk evaluation/surveys to assist in the underwriting process
  • Providing consultative services to policyholders to improve loss results
  • Developing and providing training presentations covering safety and health or claims management issues
  • Managing a service territory including effective scheduling, communication and prioritization of work to address
    the policyholders needs and impact the overall loss profile of the accounts

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years experience with a Work Comp specialty carrier (Multi-line experience with significant
    Workers’ Compensation book of business will be considered)
  • Industry experience in managing safety and health and workers compensation programs including familiarity with Cal
    OSHA standards and industry best practices in manufacturing, retail, hospitality or other industries
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Superior computer skills with strong problem solving skills
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus

Position: Underwriting Associates Supervisor

Location: Santa Ana

Responsibilities:

This rewarding opportunity will have oversight of the activities and workflows of the Underwriter Associates (U/A) and Underwriting Administrative Associate (UWA), who support our Underwriters with new business clearance and set up, document scanning, policy issuance, endorsement processing, customer service, and external correspondence.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and will be accountable for the following responsibilities.

  • Hiring

  • Review and manage performance
  • Workflow managements to assure timeliness and accuracy of processing
  • Technical expertise in U/A and UWA processes
  • Underwriting liaison to Operations Department and the vendor of our company’s operating system
  • Works directly with Operations Department to maximize efficiency within each job function and process in the Underwriting Department
  • Performs Quality Assurance Reviews
  • May be needed to work a book of business and / or assist with complex accounts
  • Must be able to maintain or exceed Key Service Standards (company set timeline for task completion)

The position will be exempt and will report directly to the Director of Corporate Underwriting.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years industry experience, of which 3 years are in a supervisory position
  • 5 years workers compensation experience (Multi-Line experience will be considered)
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Extensive knowledge of Multi State filings and requirement for policy issuance and cancellations
  • Expertise with NCCI and Independent Bureau requirements
  • Expertise with Department of Motor Vehicle filing requirements as well as other State or Federal departments
  • Superior computer skills with strong problem solving skills
  •  Comprehensive experience with various policy issuance systems

Position: Underwriter - CompWeb

  • Review incoming bind submissions for new business processed through the CompWeb online rating portal. 
  • Validate the bound submissions for adherence to program eligibility guidelines and proper classification.
  • Manage new business submission levels for achieving production goals.
  • Validate accuracy of submission data through customer “welcome” calls.
  • Observe and identify trends in the performance of the book of business. Present observations and suggestions to management based on observed trends. Suggestions to include changes to the pricing template or revisions to the underwriting questions.
  • Maintain strong relationships with partner brokers adhering to marketing plans and strategies with each partner broker.
  • Participate in partner broker reviews by evaluating results, relationships, creating recommendations for growth strategies and taking advantage of new opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 - 7 plus years experience in insurance
  • 2 years experience working as an Underwriter
  • College degree, CPCU desirable
  • Strong analytical skills and good business judgment
  • Good interpersonal effectiveness
  • Effective negotiation, sales and influence management skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and complete work within established time frames
  • Ability to travel to assigned brokers in the Western States territory as required
  • Ability to work as part of team
  • Other duties as assigned
