Position
: Claims Examiner

Location: Santa Ana

Responsibilities:

  • Contact with insured’s, Injured Worker, agents, and parties involved
  • Complete initial investigation of claim: 3-pt contact
  • Evaluate claim information and  work with the client to pursue claim resolution
  • Adhere to CA Labor Code
  • Work with claims manager
  • Facilitate claim reviews
  • Work with Loss Control & Underwriting departments

Requirements:

  • Qualified for designation as an Experienced Claims Adjuster in accordance with California regulations preferred
  • Strong knowledge of medical terms and CA workers’ compensation codes
  • 3 -5 yrs  workers’ compensation claims experience
  • SIP preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Possess excellent decision making and analytical skills
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Computer proficient

Position:
Claims Assistant

Location: San Francisco

Responsibilities:

  • Works with claims examiners to ensure that all converted files are positioned properly for further handling and are created into indemnity cases timely and within current protocols

  • Maintains accurate diary of scheduled tasks and follow up items on a timely basis

  • Reviews medical documents/reports

  • Files and sends appropriate DWC notices

  • Conducts telephone communication with Medical Provider offices to obtain the current discharge status of Injured Workers and insures that medical bills are received and paid timely

  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software programs

  • General office duties and customer service

  • Performs additional related administrative duties, as required

Requirements:

·        1+ years of Workers Comp Claim Handling experience

·        3+ years of Customer service and/or Administrative experience

·        Attention to detail

·        Excellent follow-up skills

·        Ability to work well with others

·        Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook

·        High School or equivalent

·        Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Position
:  Corporate Underwriting & Actuarial Analyst

Location:  TBD

This position is a dual role and reports to both the Actuary and Corporate Director of Underwriting.  This position does not have any direct reports.

Underwriting Job Responsibilities:

  • Gain knowledge in various corporate underwriting functions such as but not limited to referrals from underwriters, technical based meetings and procedural/processing meetings, and provide input during various technical tasks functions or projects as applicable

  • Project management for all CompWest University (i.e. internal training) seminars to include proposal of new topics; presentation at seminars as applicable

  • Contribute to the development of Underwriting Associate training topics; conduct training as applicable

  • Issuance of partner company (Accident Fund and United Heartland) policies in accordance with CompWest processing guidelines.

  • Gain knowledge on WCIRB & NCCI forms for maintenance

  • Management of out of state rap sheet tables in Excel workbooks; facilitate and create enhancement to design as applicable

Actuarial Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly & quarterly management metrics

  • Management of rate filings to include updating of state rate tables to internal database systems, preparing of rate filings for California and western states, monitoring of NCCI website and updating state rate adequacy for internal database systems

  • Management of quarterly extract data for reserve review report

  • Assist Underwriters in understanding and use of actuarial pricing tools.

Requirements:

·          Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

·          Preferably 5 to 7 years of insurance industry experience

·          Proficient in Microsoft Office

·          Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·          Detail oriented, well organized, self-directed

·          Ability to plan, organize and complete work within established time frames

Job Title:
Underwriting Administrative Assistant

Responsibilities:

§         New business data entry which includes several steps

·         Create a WebRap folder in the CompWest Portal and attach all supporting submission documentation.

·         New business clearance; clearing the new business submission in the FiServ system, the old new business log and inventory spreadsheet. If clear, the next steps will be followed. New Business clearance and Fiserv entry within 24 hours.

·         Enter the New Business into both the WebRap worksheet and the FiServ system to generate a rating model within 48 to 72 hours. Delivered to Underwriter within 72 hours. 

·         Ensure that transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner during rating and/or entering transactions.  Transactions include quotes and new business set up.

§         Workflow process in Account lifecycle

·         Order loss runs on an as needed basis.

·         Order miscellaneous reports needed in the rating and underwriting processes. D&B, WCIRB modifications,
Motor Vehicles Records.

·         Distribute WCIRB correspondence received through FTP site.

§         Customer Service standards

·         Provide timely and professional customer service; communicate effectively to obtain information needed to complete screening and transaction.

·         Provides administrative and general clerical support to underwriting associate, underwriters and underwriting director.

·         Other Duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in business or related field.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.

Position:   Senior Accountant

Location:  San Francisco

Directly responsible for:

  • Accounting, including direct premiums and losses, reinsurance and expenses

  • Internal reporting, including CompWest GAAP consolidated financial statements; monthly operations report (MOR); and monthly reporting to new parent, Accident Fund

  • External reporting (GAAP) for external CPA audit firm and Accident Fund

Indirectly responsible for:

  • Investment accounting and reporting

  • Federal and state income tax accruals

Additional responsibilities:

  • Enhance internal reporting capabilities

  • Automate monthly close

  • Document accounting policies and procedures

  • Special projects

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field

  • 5 to 8 years relevant experience

  • Knowledge of Statutory Insurance Accounting or equivalent experience a plus 

  • CPA designation a plus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Collaborate effectively with other business functions- i.e. Marketing, Underwriting, Claims and Operations

  • Must have advanced excel skills and solid experience with general ledger systems

Position:  Premium Services Admin

Location:  San Francisco

Status:  Part-time

The position of Premium Services Administrative Assistant assists the Claims Department with overall general administration duties.  This position is part-time at 10-20 hours a week.  This position reports to the Premium Services Director.

Typical duties at this level include:

·        Process audits for review

·        Coordination of documents to policyholders and brokers

·        Manage documentation within Fiserv

·        Scanning and emailing documents for voluntary audits

·        Coordinate WCIRB test audit packages

·        Compilations and documentation of customer surveys

·        Follow up on outstanding audits for vendors

·        Use Microsoft applications and data management systems

·        Ad hoc assignments as necessary
 

Requirements:

·        High school degree required, Bachelors degree a plus

·        Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

·        Strong customer service skills

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·        Detail oriented, well organized, self-directed

·        Ability to plan, organize and complete work within established time frames
