Position: Return To Work Coordinator

Location: San Francisco

Reports to: Claims Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Educate and assist employers on the availability of Return to Work Opportunities within their organization
  • Prepare and give RTW presentations on WC issues to brokers, employers, and industry groups in conjunction with other departments
  • Assist the Claims department  in obtaining job descriptions of U&C positions at time of injury
  • Build a library of job descriptions across all of our employers and industries to assist in RTW efforts for new injuries
  • Implement and facilitate the earliest possible return of injured workers to the workplace to perform meaningful, productive work within their physical capabilities
  • Formulate methods to track and report all RTW data for presentation to management and to policy holders, including documented cost savings
  • Build workflows and processes with Claims to facilitate timely responses to mandated RTW notices and activities
  • Evaluate data to determine venues where returning IW to work has a direct impact on the cost of the award or settlement.  Work with claims to develop strategies to address these jurisdictional specific issues
  • Represent the interests of CompWest at WCAB hearings concerning issues involving RTW efforts

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Workers Comp Return To Work issues
  • Demonstrates ability to compile, interpret and evaluate statistical and RTW data
  • Experience in presentations and communications
  • Excellent follow-up skills
  • Ability to work well with others, maintaining effective inter-department relationships
  • Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State Regulations governing WC
  • College degree or equivalent work experience in this field
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Position: Human Resources Generalist

Location:  Santa Ana Office

Reports to: Human Resources Officer

Responsibilities:

  • Supports HR Officer in all aspects of HR including employee relations, employee health and benefits, hiring and termination, company personnel policies and procedures
  • Fields questions and requests from employees regarding all HR-related issues
  • Recruits, interviews, and selects new hires
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals
  • Keeps record of benefit coverage documentation and personnel transactions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations
  • Manages benefits administration to include enrollment, employee education, change reporting, and preparing invoices for payment
  • Coordinates annual benefits open enrollments
  • Maintains human resources database files and employee records; uses software to generate routine reports to ensure accuracy and completeness of data
  • Drafts and types a wide variety of correspondence, forms, reports and similar items ensuring correct grammar, spelling and business format
  • Researches and gathers information to prepare reports relative to human resources activities
  • Investigates accidents and prepares reports for workers compensation insurance carrier
  • May be responsible for evaluating and suggesting new benefit or compensation structures or changes to existing plans
  • Coordination of company-wide volunteer events
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality
  • Other duties as needed

Requirements:

  • 2 - 4 years experience in field
  • PHR or SPHR Certification preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Working knowledge of all employment state and federal regulations (e.g. COBRA, Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Employment regulations, OSHA, Workers’ Compensation, American with Disabilities Act, FMLA, HIPAA, etc)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ADP HRB
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to travel

Position: Underwriter

Location: Santa Ana and San Francisco

  • Assess and determine risk acceptability for new and renewal business within target and acceptable industries
  • High level of technical underwriting expertise using established underwriting guidelines, standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain strong relationships with partner brokers adhering to marketing plans and strategies with each partner broker
  • Participate in partner broker reviews by evaluating results, relationships, creating recommendations for growth strategies and taking advantage of new opportunities
  • Manage underwriting in flow of business
  • Analyze loss control reports, industry periodical’s, quantitative and qualitative data, using clear underwriting judgment to make appropriate decisions within authority
  • Articulate underwriting decision making process to management

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 - 7 plus years experience
  • College degree, or equivalent experience, CPCU desirable
  • Strong analytical skills and good business judgment
  • Good interpersonal effectiveness
  • Effective negotiation, sales and influence management skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and complete work within established time frames
  • Ability to travel to assigned brokers in Northern California territory as required
  • Ability to work as part of team
  • Other duties as assigned

Position: Claims Examiner

Location: Santa Ana

Responsibilities:

  • Contact with insureds, injured workers, agents, and parties involved
  • Complete initial investigation of claim: 3-point contact
  • Evaluate claim information and  work with the client to pursue claim resolution
  • Adhere to CA Labor Code
  • Work with claims manager
  • Facilitate claim reviews
  • Work with Loss Control & Underwriting departments

Requirements:

  • Qualified for designation as an Experienced Claims Adjuster in accordance with California regulations preferred
  • Strong knowledge of medical terms and CA workers’ compensation codes
  • 3 -5 yrs workers’ compensation claims experience
  • SIP preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Possess excellent decision making and analytical skills
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Computer proficient
  • College Degree or equivalent experience preferred

Position:         Claims Assistant

Location:        Santa Ana

Responsibilities:

  • Works with claims examiners to ensure that all converted files are positioned properly for further handling and are created into indemnity cases timely and within current protocols
  • Maintains accurate diary of scheduled tasks and follow up items on a timely basis
  • Reviews medical documents/reports
  • Files and sends appropriate DWC notices
  • Conducts telephone communication with Medical Provider offices to obtain the current discharge status of Injured Workers and insures that medical bills are received and paid timely
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software programs
  • General office duties and customer service
  • Performs additional related administrative duties, as required

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of Workers Comp Claim Handling experience
  • 3+ years of Customer service and/or Administrative experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent follow-up skills
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • High School or equivalent
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Position: Claims Admin

Location: Santa Ana

Responsibilities:

The position of Claims Administrative Assistant assists the Claims Department with overall general administration duties.  This position reports to the Claims Clerical Supervisor.

Typical duties at this level include:

  • Scan and track incoming business documents
  • Distribute scanned documents to claims staff in a timely manner
  • Create new claim files
  • File documents
  • Use Microsoft applications and data management systems
  • Communicate with outside vendors
  • Complete subpoena requests
  • Process error items
  • Process bill payments
  • Backup to reception as needed
  • Ad hoc assignments as necessary

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years administrative experience
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Detail oriented, well organized, self-directed
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and complete work within established time frames
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of database management systems
